Political Economy of Opaque Autocracies: Using Theory to Understand Governance Data  (P. Francois)

The recent evidences of state repression on political opposition show growth in autocratic and authoritarian regimes in many countries. By the end of this module, students should be able to develop a suitable framework to interpret the data in a structural way.

Models on the Joint Evolution of Institutions and Identity: Applications to Religion, and Corruption  (A. Seror)

A brief presentation on emerging theories on the joint evolution of identity and institutions will be exposed during this course. On that basis, it discusses corruption and religion, two key topics at the research frontier of the literature.

On the political decisions makers  (M. Sangnier)

This course will review how the literature accounts for the characteristics of politicians and how these affect decisions they take while in office or when running for political positions. A particular attention will be devoted to empirical evidence that makes it possible to identify whether and how much some characteristics of politicians matter in explaining differences in observed behaviors.
